TO BE CHASTE MAKE HASTE TO MARY

Today we live in a post modern world, where our society is slowly losing sight of the eternal truth. People, especially youngsters are losing the consciousness of sin. Good virtues are hardly excercised by the current generation. The same thing which was considered as a mortal sin some years ago has today become a lifestyle. How can that be justified? Now let us limit our views only to the area of chastity. Today the human sphere has been torn asunder by a climate of lust and inpurity. What is and who is the reason for all of this.  Even for religious men and women chastity is running on a crisis. In fact every hour about 750 people all around the world commits a crime or a sin against the virtue of chastity. It’s shocking to realise that our world is taking it’s shape of another Sodom and Gammorah. What is the solution for all of this? Is a chaste life not possible in this techonological world?
Dear friends it is possible. Let us go back to the history of our salvation, there we find this humble woman Mary. According to me she is the greatest model of chastity for us. She too was tested, tempted and put to all kinds of trails. But she remained pure. Her thoughts were pure, her words were pure, her actions were pure and she was indeed an embodiment of purity. Do you think it was easy for her to remain chaste? No! As a young girl, she too had passions, desires and all other ambitions of life; but she made a daring choice for which she had to pay for her entire lifetime. Mary willingly gave up everything and answered her divine vocation. She was a spotless lily, a precious rose and a pearl beyond price, that’s why God preserved even her earthly body form corruption. Chastity is a gift from God my dear friends given to each one of us, but the sad thing is that the enemy of our soul is depriving us of this valuable virtue.
Let us look at our lady and learn from her the virtue of chastity. Ask her for the gift of purity. Because she is the icon of purity. You name any saint in the Catholic Church who has lived a chaste and holy life, He or she would have been a devotee of our blessed mother.

Yes friends, we all are aspiring to live a chaste life.  In today’s context, it is even more challenging. The world is not the same as it was earlier. The rate of the vulnerability of sin is more these days. Can you and I proudly say that we have not at all committed any sin against chastity. No! Nobody can. The truth is we live in a fallen world and we certainly need divine help to overcome their issue. As religious, we are called to celebrate chastity. So let us imitate our lady and constantly seek her maternal help. May she the purest lady ever lived lead us all to live a holy and chaste life.  Amen
